The convent found fame thanks to the film ‘The Sound of Music’. The convent is freely accessible between 5.30am and nightfall. Sightseeing is not possible during holy services.

Salzburg Cathedral - St. Peter’s Archabbey and Cemetery: one of the oldest and most beautiful cemeteries in the world can be found at St. Peter’s Archabbey. The monastery was founded by the Franconian missionary St. Rupert in 700 a.D.
- Kapitelplatz Square: on your way from Hotel Kasererbraeu to St. Peter’s Archabbey or Salzburg Cathedral you will cross Kapitelplatz Square. There is always so much to see: a giant game of chess, various sales booths, and the modern work of art ‘Sphaera’ by Stephan Balkenhol, for instance.
