That’s why our host at the Altstadthotel Kasererbräu started his training at just 14 years old – a decision that he hasn’t regretted to this day. He welcomes guests from all around the world with his warm, open manner and – together with his unique team – lets them experience the best that Mozart’s hometown has to offer. Our hotelier knows his way around Salzburg’s rich leisure and culture offerings, as he often enjoys the charms of his hometown himself.
His personal motto ‘live and let live’ is clear to see in his openness, which Alexander Krammer also applies to his work: most of all, he loves working with a diverse range of people, staff and guests from all over the world. Outside work, he enjoys relaxing with his family and good friends. Eating good food, discovering a great city, and attending cultural events: that’s how your passionate host enjoys his free time. Alexander Krammer lets us in on his favourite things to do in Salzburg on his ‘perfect day’. We hope you enjoy reading and trying out his insider tips!
The Kaiviertel is Salzburg’s very own artist’s quarter: full of life, culture and charm. With its plentiful galleries, chic boutiques and cosy cafés with cuisine from all around the world, the Kaiviertel is one of my favourite places in the city. Before my stroll, I like to get something to eat at Café Fürst. You should definitely try a Salzburger Mozartkugel (blue/silver), a very special house speciality!
The culinary hotspot in the heart of Salzburg’s Old Town
The Cook&Wine in Salzburg’s old town in the Kaiviertel. Let yourself be convinced by a unique and extraordinary gastronomic concept, because besides a fine menu you will be offered a daily changing offer. Experience authentic cuisine with attention to detail! Let your day end with a glass of wine at the wine bar or on the terrace in fine weather. A tip: make sure you reserve a table in advance!
Art & View: My program for the afternoon
In the afternoon, you should definitely go high up – either comfortably with the lift to the Mönchsberg or on foot over the stairs in the Toskaninihof, behind the Festspielhaus. Once at the top, you can enjoy the magnificent view over the old town and stand directly in front of the Stefan Zweig Center – a place for literature, art and science. In only a few minutes you reach the terrace of the restaurant M32 where you can enjoy the view of Salzburg with coffee and apple strudel. My tip: A walk over the Mönchsberg, which always offers charming views in all directions of the city.
A special and historic guesthouse in Salzburg
The Gasthaus Zwettler’s is located in the centre of Salzburg’s old town in the historic Stubhainshaus in the Kaigasse and is only a few steps away from Mozartplatz. After a long sightseeing day, experience a traditional Austrian cuisine, whether hearty or light, the menu has something for every taste. A tip: don’t miss the Schweinsbrat’l day on Sunday and be quick, because when it’s over, it’s over!
Italian joie de vivre in Linzergasse
The Restaurant Di Renzi Prosciutteria & Enoteca, a culinary journey through the diversity of the Italian regions. From Monday to Saturday evening, treat yourself to daily alternating dishes in the Linzergasse of Salzburg’s Old Town. The dishes are freshly prepared for you right in front of your eyes in the show kitchen – according to original Italian recipes. A tip for wine lovers: Di Renzi has a selection of selected Italian wines!
The charm of a 160-year-old inn combined with modern principles makes Zwettler’s so special. All the ingredients that end up on the plates are carefully selected in advance. The meat is supplied by the butcher, the vegetables by the G’miasara and the bread by the baker – classic as it should be!
What would pleasure be without the extra portion of pleasure? At Cook&Wine you can expect a unique gastronomic concept that goes beyond classic culinary delights. Enjoy regional and international dishes that are freshly prepared for you in the open kitchen. Take a look at the chef & his team’s fingers – or rather their pots and pans.
Di Renzi Prosciutteria & Enoteca is the insider tip in Salzburg – where excellent taste and Italian joie de vivre meet successfully. An exquisite selection of excellent fish and meat specialities, which even in Italy you can only find off the beaten track of the big tourist centres! The Di Renzi also offers great pasta dishes in various variations! Let yourself be enchanted by the Italian cuisine!
