Anyone who claims that Paris is the only city of love has not yet taken a closer look at Salzburg. Perhaps this is even quite good because in this way the Mozart city on the Salzach is and remains a secret tip, where there is still a lot to discover for (young) couples together – at any time of the year. We have summarized a few tips, hotspots and offers for you, but we are sure that you will find hidden corners, incredible views, and romantic moments on the spot.
A romantic start
Romance takes time. That’s why we recommend planning a few days in Salzburg – at least two days – so that you can enjoy the magic of the city without hectic, stress, and distraction. As mentioned before, the Altstadthotel Kasererbräu is the ideal starting point for your stay and your activities. Especially for lovers, the Altstadthotel already offers a Package ” Just in Love” that really leaves nothing to be desired:
- 2 nights in the Junior Suite
- Roses and 1 bottle of Prosecco in the room
- Fortress Concert with Candle-Light Dinner
- Romantic horse carriage ride
- Breakfast until 11:00 a.m. in the room
- Unlimited use of our sauna
- already from € 209,- per person
The city itself offers a lot of “loving” details. Probably the most striking is the Makartsteg, where countless couples have already sworn eternal love to each other and attached an (inscribed) padlock to the railing. A boat trip on the Salzach (under the Makartsteg through) offers itself directly at the connection. Afterward, the best way is to drift through the old, small streets of the city and enjoy the togetherness between the cathedral, the churches, and the squares, as well as the little shops and traditional Cafés.
In case of snow …
If it’s winter and snowing, a romantic walk to Mattsee Castle is a perfect way. If you want to go higher and discover new perspectives, book a hot-air balloon ride over the Salzburg Lakeland in advance. Especially in the cold season, the view is clear and overwhelming and exerts special magic. Those who prefer to stay in the city can get into one of the horse-drawn carriages, wrap themselves in the cuddly blankets and enjoy a traditional Salzburg show. The tour ends with a visit to one of the Christmas markets in the city or its immediate surroundings.
… and in sunshine
In summer, a picnic trip to the Mönchsberg (and here the legendary Humboldt Terrace with a fantastic view of the Baroque city) is an ideal option. Alternatively, we suggest a walk together from the Festungsgasse on the Hohe Weg to the Abbey Nonnberg via the Stiftskirche towards the fortress to the Museum der Moderne. Here, too, a fascinating panorama awaits you, which may be a taste of more – a romantic Dinner over the roofs of the city.
Around the city of Salzburg
If you are mobile by car and want to cool off on the water together, Schloss Hellbrunn with its water features is the place to be. A walk through the magnificent parks is recommended for subsequent drying. In St. Wolfgang am Wolfgangsee you can experience the panorama during a boat trip, the Königssee in Bavaria is also worth a visit. For the outward and return journey, it is recommended to choose the romantic road through the nearby Salzkammergut. And those who already dare the final step: in the Hellbauerhaus in Gömig, the province of Salzburg offers a unique wedding museum.
