Salzburg Zoo, Hohensalzburg Castle, the Toy Museum (Spielzeugmuseum) in the Old Town, and the House of Nature: Salzburg has plenty of attractions for the whole family.
Do you want to take a short trip to Salzburg with the whole family? Then you’re in luck: there is plenty for your little ones to explore in Salzburg. Tyrannosaurus rex, brachiosaurus, pterosaurs – is your little one a dinosaur buff? Prepare to see your child’s eyes widen in the dinosaur hall , complete with standing and flying prehistoric lizards. There are also a lot of living animals in the Haus der Natur. Fish from rivers and seas from all across the globe swim across 42 aquariums. The terrariums let you cast your eyes on real Mississippi alligators, venomous lizards and snakes. And if your little scientists and explorers get hungry, the café in the museum has something to suit every palate.
The zoo is located in Hellbrunn, around ten minutes by car from the Altstadthotel Kasererbräu. Salzburg Zoo is home to lions, rhinoceroses, zebras, goats, monkeys, wolves, mice and many more animals. The zoo is open all year round, and you can rent a hand-pulled wagon from the ticket desk to make sure your little ones aren’t too worn out by the end of your visit.
At the Salzburg Toy Museum, you can show your little ones what toys their parents and grandparents played with at their age. Dollhouses and dolls, paper theatres, metal and wooden toys, soft toys, tin figurines, trains…
Salzburg’s many outdoor swimming pools and the lakes in the surrounding countryside are great to visit in summer.
The Altstadthotel Kasererbräu also offers large, two-storey family rooms. The second sleeping area can be reached via a wooden staircase, so your children have their own private space. We’d be happy to advise you. Just send us a no-obligation booking request and we’ll be happy to take care of your needs.
