Your host at the Altstadthotel Kasererbraeu

Alexander Krammer's dream job was chosen early on: He wanted to become a hotelier!

Already at the age of 14, today’s host started his apprenticeship at the Altstadthotel Kasererbräu – a decision he has not regretted a day to this day, as he has been managing the Altstadthotel Kasererbräu since 2012. With his warm, open manner, he welcomes guests from all over the world and, together with his dedicated team, introduces them to the beauties of Mozart’s city. The hotelier is very familiar with Salzburg’s rich cultural and leisure offerings; after all, he himself enjoys the benefits of his hometown. Since 2022, Mr. Krammer has also managed his second hotel in Salzburg, the Hotel Astoria in the Maxglan district.

His personal motto “Live and let live” reflects the cosmopolitanism with which Alexander Krammer also approaches his work: He loves working with a wide variety of people, employees as well as guests from all over the world the most. The hotelier finds the necessary rest with his family and with good friends. Eating well, discovering a great city, visiting cultural events: this is how the passionate host prefers to spend his free time. What special beauties and insider tips his hometown Salzburg has to offer, Alexander Krammer reveals to us here in his “Perfect Day”.

Salzburg tips from Alexander Krammer

Tour through the Kaiviertel - my insider tip for the morning

The Kaiviertel is Salzburg’s secret artists’ district: lively, culturally enthusiastic and charming. With its numerous galleries, chic boutiques and cozy eateries with themed cuisine around the world, the Kaiviertel is one of my favorite places in the city. For the tour I like to strengthen myself in the Café Fürst. You should not miss the famous Salzburg Mozartkugeln (blue/silver), a very special specialty of the house!

The culinary hotspot in the heart of Salzburg’s old town

Step inside and experience Mediterranean flair with exceptional fish and seafood specialties to enjoy with all your senses! Goodbye sea sickness, because at the Oyster Bar in Salzburg, guests feast on the finest from the sea with creative side dishes and in a wonderful, southern ambience. With a large portion of charm Kai Löw and his team will serve you oysters, delicacies from the sea and the river and delicious seafood with the matching quality wine (of course also with non-alcoholic drinks). We offer delicious, always changing lunch menus – exquisite feasting at noon, what more could a gourmet heart desire?

Art & Outlook: My program for the afternoon

In the afternoon you should definitely go high up – either comfortably by elevator to the Mönchsberg or on foot via the stairs in the Toskaninihof, behind the Festspielhaus. Once at the top, enjoy the magnificent view over the old town and stand directly in front of the Stefan Zweig Center – a place for literature, art and science. In just a few minutes walk you can reach the terrace of the restaurant M32 where you can enjoy the view of Salzburg with coffee and apple strudel. My tip: A walk across the Mönchsberg, which always offers charming views in all directions of the city.
