Silent Night, Holy Night
The Christmas magic of Salzburg
“Silent Night, Holy Night” – to this day, no other song is associated with Christmas around the world like this one. Did you know that this was penned by Joseph Mohr, a native of Salzburg? The Salzburg priest wrote it at a time when many Salzburgers were suffering hardship. He wanted to give them hope with his song. Joseph Mohr was born at number 31 Steingasse, and today there is a plaque on the house commemorating the author of the world-famous Christmas carol.
